The Surprising Power of Compassion for Weight Loss

The Surprising Power of Compassion for Weight Loss

It’s a journey not just of the body but also of the mind and everything between

It’s a journey not just of the body but also of the mind and everything between,

For years we have been approaching fatloss from a place of self-hate and criticism,

backing it up with willpower, portion control, and self-discipline,

and that has left us in the same spot,

I can even say it has made matters worse;

we dread the word losing fat,

we prepare for it like we are preparing out bodies for battle,

And even with all these preparation,

you still strongly believe that fatloss is not for you,

telling yourself that even after all this hard work,

you will never be able to lose the fat,

you just do not see it happen,

and then when you look in the mirror,

you dislike what you see,

the cycle continues

But, today I want you to try approaching your fat-loss journey in a self-compassionate way,

we will go into more of that in this post.

The importance of self-compassion during a fatloss journey

Self-compassion during a fat loss journey is essential.

Practicing it is not for the lazy and weak but rather for those who want to improve themselves.

Self-compassion changes your perspective,

it makes your fatloss experience easier,

it reminds you that you are only human,

you can do hard things while still being kind to yourself

Self-compassion makes healthy habits easier to practice when you are not used to it,

even know it is the hardest change you are ever going to make

Self-compassion will help you acknowledge your suffering and not let you punish yourself for the pain you feel,

instead, you recognize that this is hard while allowing yourself the kindness needed to get through a hard time.

Self-compassion changes your perspective,

it fuels your resilience, and,

most importantly, reminds you that you are human –

perfectly imperfect and always evolving.

So, as you embark on your fat loss journey, remember to pack a truckload of self-compassion.

It might just be your most valuable tool.

When your self-compassion game is strong,

you tend to take better care of your body.

Not because you’re trying to impress other people or measure up to an societies standards

but because having compassion means wanting to protect yourself from suffering,

and engaging in healthy behaviors is a good way to do that

Self-compassion doesnt make the negative experiences less negative,

compassion reduces the impact that could result from them,

Self-compassion on a fat loss journey, helps you soothe the pain of changing a habit,

it doesnt take away the pain or the difficulty

It soothes you while encouraging you to be better.

It will not change who you are and what you look like,

it will help you accept where you are , and encourage you to want to be better

to want to get up and do what you have to

Self-compassion helps with the shame that comes with the process of losing fat

when you have compassion for yourself, you are more inclined to handle criticism better.

You can still hate your body after losing fat, or building, muscle, however when you are compassionate

you understand how to befriend your body and build towards seeing it in a positive light

Self-compassion will help you befriend who you already are, so you can enjoy who you are becoming

Self-compassion will teach you to endure the pain and pleasure in your fatloss journey

so you can find out what you want from your body.

we’ll explore how kindness, forgiveness, and self-compassion can change the way we approach and experience fat loss Here
